28 July 2005
  vacation ... aaaahhh Hiya kids. Sorry no newposts for the last week or so... I am on vacation and have done absolutely nothing except spend 3 days in West Virginia with the inlaws, sleep and sleep some more. Oh and eat. John took me and his best friend Dan out to Carrabba's last night in the middle of a huge thunderstorm. We were going to attempt to crash the Duran Duran concert in Baltimore, but when the rains started turning torrential around 7 pm - we figured the show was cancelled/postponed snice Pier 6 is an open pavilion so we decided to go out for dinner. I ate eggplant parm and a mountain of italian bread dipped in olive oil and Italian seasonings...it looks really great on my butt now LOL

I colored my hair to get rid of grays and I have a pile of laundry to do, but I really don't feel like it. I need to ship my Yahoo group Traveling Scarf Project kits out ... finally have them set up, but have just not been able to get them to the post office! I also got my list of recipients for Stitch Marker Swap 2005, so I need to pack those up as well. I shipped Jaimi her pseudo-SP5 gifts and my swap obligations (she sent me Knit It! Fall 04) last week so I hope they arrived okay.

Tomorrow is Duran Duran at House Of Blues in Atlantic City and Saturday is Duran Duran at Garden State Arts Center (PNC Bank Arts Center for you weirdos LOL) in Holmdel. Can we say it's a Duran Duran vacation? Yay! We are meeting friends up there over the course of 2 days and finding random places to sleep (to save $ on hotels... more $ for food, tchotchkes and gambling ---- ah my husband the poker buff) and then I get to go back to work on Sunday night (pt job) and Monday (ft job)

Pictures pictures picutres. I need to unload them from the HP and send them up here, but I'll do that in a bit. Right now I'm thinking of sushi or a grilled cheese sammich and I may go and take a nap since Her Majesty kept nudging me all night and hogged my side of the bed. When Angel gets nested, she freakin' spreads out and pushes her paws up against my back. Hence, lack of quality sleep LOL
John says I need to shove her out of the bed when she starts doing that, but you know how I am about my cat...

Laters!

  *SQUEEEEEEE* - RAK'd by wyldeyez
Okay I really am so lucky and blessed 3 RAK's in a week!!! - I just picked up a parcel from the GB post office and found it stuffed to bursting with this:

5 skeins of Patons Canadiana in fabulous fall colors
A cd of gorgeous knitting & crochet patterns
An army of Bernat pattern leaflets
A very cute Happy Berfday Canada postcard with the Party Moose on it

Sandra had emailed me a few weeks ago when I had posted on the knitty board about Canadiana - it's not available anywhere here in MD that I can find and she offered up some of her stash when I had mentioned that I wanted to try knitting something b/c I heard it was nicer than regular acrylic... I wasn't expecting anything more than a sample or two, but there's enough here for mittens, scarf and an hat if I calculated my yardage/metres right ---- wooo hoooo! I am so appreciative of all these wonderful gifts I receive and the contacts I've made on Knitty that I feel have formed into invaluable friendships.... thank you thank you thank you!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
OKay - my little contest from 7/7 --- I had gotten 2 correct answers (see comments section from that day LOL) one from Miss Kirsti, who was officially the winner and one from Miss Sandra. It is yes, The USC Santa Cruz Zen Slug who is soooooo cute and my new favorite collegiate mascot. I will be sending out 2 sets of stitch markers and 2 balls of luxury yarn when I get my head out of my butt this week LOL just because I love my home grrrls and who doesn't love free stuff? Thank you to all who Google'd and searched for Mr. Slug, posted, and of course thank you to those who stopped in for just a peek too :)
  RAK'd by natalieknits!
SQUEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE
OMG I am so blessed!
First I was RAK'd by Miss Genki earlier this week with her amazing Nippon pop culture (which I adore) and now Miss Natalieknits sent me this unbelieveably creative and thoughtful care package of: (right to left)
A skein of hand-dyed Kool-Aid wool she made herself (WOW)
A sack of gourmet local green tea (flavor: Long Island Strawberry)
Springy-style slinky laces in HOT PINK (*lol*)
A cast-iron hanging hook with an adorable monkey - love it!
A set of Canadian herbs to burn incense-style for a "spirit quest" experience
A beautifully roomy & functional needle/notion case that she made (double WOW -- how did she know I needed one??? hee hee)
... all wrapped carefully in piles of pink tissue and Saskatoon classifieds (which I promptly sat down to read on my lunch break after oggling my schwag LOL)
I feel so fortunate to have such amazing people at the other end of my internet connection that I've met thru the knittyboards - to put a bullet point on my statement, when I got home from a sh*tty day at work I found a pinky notice from the postman saying that there was a package too big to fit in my mailbox that was available for pick-up on Monday after 9 am from Sault Ste. Marie, ONT - CANADA which can only mean one thing.... Miss Wyldeyez and her unboundless generosity has made it to the People's Republic of MD --- oh boy I can't wait!!!!
Awesome. Simply awesome. Genki, natalieknits, wyldeyez, Ali...all wonderful, kindhearted souls who know how to make a grumpy girl smile - thank you.
I am now going to hunker down with my rice and mandarin sauce from mass-producer Panda Express and knit....
  Ugh.
Rain. Humidity. Ick. Dang.
Maybe posting a few pics will make me feel better...
This is my Noro Iro #21 - pre LMKG 4-hour legwarmers ... I had 6 skeins, gave 1 to my SP, and have used 2 so far for these legwarmers that are taking forever.... haven't decided what to do with the remaining 3 yet...the other pic is me at the Richmond (VA) NASCAR race from last month in front of Kenny Schrader's #49 Schwan's Dodge...
I was loking for WIPs pics, but a whole folder on my PC seems to be missing....
  For Monkee's benefit
  Just a little knit(ty) ...stuff.
Here are my answers to Michele/soapfibergal's Stitch Marker Swap questionnaire:
Do you prefer shorter or more dangling type of markers?
Dangle is preferred, but I'll be happy with any style I get.
Is there any kind of markers that you would absolutely NOT want to recieve?
Not that I can think of.
Colors you like most?
Pinks, purples, silver
Colors you like least?
barf green
Would you prefer markers for smaller or larger sized needles?
Larger. I am chunky-yarn-and-broomstick queen LOL
To be more specific, my standard needle range is 10.5-13
Do you want your sender to reveil themselves when there shipped or at a later date?
and How would you like to find out if at all?
Reveals can happen whenever, but I like both handwritten notes (even if quick) and on the knittyboards, kinda make it fun :)
  CONTEST!
Time for a little fun with a kicker!
Can anyone identify this picture? The first one who can (correctly) will win a nice set of stitch markers or a skein/ball of luxury yarn (my choice, but don't worry it will be great) ...Post your answers in the COMMENTS section and good luck! Winner to be announced 7/17/05
  Funny as SH*T
I had to snap this pic...Angel is a nutcase. I turned around and saw her fat butt in the wastebasket just after I pulled the last bag and was going to get another. (This is the bin we have for paper shreds - I've caught her pulling strips out of the bag when I'm not looking!)
Nutcase, I tell you :P
  Happy Belated Canada Day Hahahahaha
I am so terrible - all my Canadian buddies boxed my ears electronically since I forgot to send out my annual e-cards for Canada Day. (Hey, everyone gets a Hanukkah card from me every year too, so why not Canada Day?) The bigger hoot is that I'm not Canadian (or officially Jewish for that matter) so why are they giving me a hard time?
<-----------Angel getting in the way as usual.
This is John's beanie in Noro Kureyon # ...uhhh... hang on lemme check... I think it's 116 but I can't find the tag LOL ... it's almost finished yay!
Gah! I have to get ready for work!!!! I'll be back later --- LOVE the new image feature for Blogger!
Love,
Roxy
