CLICK HERE FOR MY (ganked) HAPPY NEW YEAR greeting cardThis was on the Panda Express website:"Bring all the joy of Chinese New Year to your family and friends with your own celebration. Create a festive and traditional atmosphere in your home or office with bright red lanterns and decorations. You can serve traditional foods and dishes to bring a happy and prosperous new year. Prepare a “Tray of Togetherness,” a round tray filled with candy and dried fruit. The following food served at Chinese New Year holds special significance:
o Tangerines and oranges represent prosperity
o Noodles, long and uncut, symbolize longevity
o Dumplings symbolize riches
o A whole fish represents togetherness and abundance
o A whole chicken represents completeness and prosperity..."
So I ate a few tangerines, a piece of chocolate and am now having a toasted baguette with camembert cheese. (Too tired to cook anything else, qand I don't eat meat or whole fish)
The title of this post is Happy New Year in Vietnamese.
I knit a little red pouch from the Rowan Ribbon twist that Tabbytuxedo sent me, and put 3 tangerines in it as a good luck symbol for one of my favorite managers, Kofi. He helped me out immmensely today and it made me want to cry because he is so helpful. Thank you Kofi.
Jenna is a sweetheart
Thank you to Jill Woolcock for bringing Jenna to my blog.I have my Hopeful pattern, lots of friendly emails from Jenna and a future project for my pile of Jaeger Shetland.Makes me happy to know that the world is in sync again. Hee hee.Morgsarah & I are hosting a modified Knittytm SP... it's called cashfree and is strictly freebies and things you can email/snail mail without dipping into your cash flow. Or RAK out of you yarn/gift stash - but the idea is to not spend money except on a stamp or two.
Side note: Sarah, I had no idea that the Manly Cable scarf pattern was yours- shows you how "with it" I am today LOL. But I *love* it :) Thank you for sharing.
CHinese New Year 2006 starts Jan. 29th. Do you have your oranges & red envelopes ready?I'm knitting a quick shawl in red for next week.

Ganked from tabbytuxedo's blog
This is hilarious.
I'm glad I've reactivated comments, because I'd like y'all to contribute, please!"....So to distract myself from my technology woes, I present you with this meme that I've picked up. I actually saw this and played along on two other blogs, Laura's and Jess's. I'd love to hear what you guys come up with! It's lots of fun. If you read this, if your eyes are passing over this right now, even if we don't speak often, please post a comment with a COMPLETELY MADE UP AND FICTIONAL MEMORY OF YOU AND ME. It can be anything you want--good or bad--BUT IT HAS TO BE FAKE. When you're finished, post this on your blog and be surprised (or mortified) about what people DON'T ACTUALLY remember about you. posted by tabbytuxedo @ 12:59 PM..."

Mosaic, not intarsia
Got it ;)Roxy Lady is still a marvelous creation no matter what and I must make it. *sigh*There is so much knitting to do and not enough time in the day. I am debating whether or not to commit to:The Knitting OlympicsKnittytm Secret Pal 6I seem to have less and less time in the week, and there's still a ton of stuff I need to mail, finish knitting, clean my home, sleep...I'll have to think about it... either way, my yarn stash storage needs to be reorganized before anything else can happen. I'll be back later, just wanted to ramble off random stuff as usual.Oh btw Sherry (lunastrixae) was visited by the Flying Spaghetti Monster.A fun thought for the day too:Dear Yahoo!: |
How did the phrase "three sheets to the wind" come to refer to being drunk? |

Comments and the Roxy Lady
WHooooooeeeeWhatta week. Today is the first day I've felt better in forever --- the wonders of modern medicine.... that generic Zithromax kicked the shit out of whatever ick I was carrying.Hot damn.So I decided I turn commenting back on because I figured that no fruit is going to prevent me from having full enjoyment of my blog and my meowycakes fans. Not everyone who is a fan posts a comment, but I have gotten a monsterload of emails from my friends asking about the commenting feature and I decided this morning at 3 am to turn it back on, because I have gotten enough encouragement from my friends & fans.... And screw "b****buster"/"S*****" and that filthy mouth & anger-management issues of his/hers. I am not afraid of you, you little @$$hole.On to the next order of fun. Zib/Wendy the creative genius that she is has made a beautiful intarsia design for a tote bag called The Roxy Lady.Do I get a moment of conceit and dare think that it was named after me? *giggle*I read this and this when I got home today... tell me what you think *hee hee*I'd like to think so, because I love Zib's work and she is so awesome. Now I need to learn & master intarsia LOLI'll be back later -- John just bought Ron White's "They Call Me Tater Salad" DVD*bounces*wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeexo Anne
How I spent my weekend
Football and drugs. If the last few posts seem all over the place, it's because they are. 1) I AM SICK AGAIN!!!! Went to the doc and I have ick. Lots of ICK. My staff says I have rabies. The official word is bronchitis and strep with its origins in an inane flu bug which was picked up somewhere between NJ and Delaware. Which John had first, then passed on to me. Go figure, his ass is almost better and I'm still gagging on alien goo. 2) Redskins ate it yesterday and I am sad. Angel, however is gloating b/c she's still mad that Tampa Bay got put out by the Skins. 3) Steelers didn't so I'm a little happier. (John is the Steelerhead around here, remember?) I was looking at my Rx package and yeah, my insurance has paid for generic drugs...but it doesn't matter, because they work just fine and I can afford them. But what caught my eye was that this generic was manufactured by a company called Teva Pharmaceuticals, based in Jerusalem, Israel. Hmmm. So I went online to click-click-click and check this out and found out that 6 degrees of separation happens in weird ways. Teva Pharmaceuticals is the distributor for Copaxone who is the sponsor for Kelly Sutton from the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Kelly lives about 12 miles from me and my friends Jake & Jason (who also race in NASCAR) used to pit crew for them a few years back. So I'm supposed to stay home til Tuesday according to the doc. Yeah, but we both know that isn't going to happen. I have inventory tomorrow. Tons of work to still catch up on from being out of town for a week. General Monday crap ... *sigh* Why can't I figure out a way to be able to knit and do crafty stuff for a living?
The good news is that I've finished my Bobblelicious and I love it. LOVE IT.
The bad news is that... I'm still sick.
And I should be going to bed now.
Oh, one last thought before I signoff. I had purchased a pattern from Jenna Adorno's website last month - her really pretty Hopeful pattern, and paid with Paypal. According to the instructions I had received after paying is that I would get a download link to the pattern to save in a pdf within 30 mins of payment. Well, I never received it, and I had emailed Jenna 3 times over the last month or so, with no response back. Now here's the touchy part - PayPal rules say that a dispute claim must be filed within 45 days of the original transaction in order to be investigated by them & for recourse. I am juuuuust within that 45-day frame, so I filed my claim today. But now I feel bad, because A) the $5 charge for the pattern is going to be donated to a cancer research fund in honor of Jenna's partner and B) Jenna seems to come across as a good soul - why would she want to hijack my 5 bucks? Do I really want to get all hyped about a charity pattern?
Then the other side of my arguement is: Why couldn't she at least respond to my emails? I understand that I am only a little bitty nobody knitter fan and why would she take time out her busy schedule for me, but now it is the principle.
I am so totally in support of cancer research, believe me. (those of you who know me IRL know my family history) And I love Jenna's pattern designs and have been a fan for years.
I just don't want her or other people to think I am petty and snide, because I am not. Really!
Jenna, if you happen to have actually read my email and saw the URL for my blog in my signature and are reading this, then I hope you can understand where I am coming from.
I hope to hear back from you (in a friendly way, of course) in response to any one of my 3 emails, if not from PayPal.
Childish actions
I've decided to turn off comments for a while because some genius from one of the forums I am a regular contributor to has decided to post filthy, inappropriate messages to try and hurt me. Discovered these little gems of wisdom this morning when I woke up and they were timestamped around 3:30 this morning. Amazing, this idiot has nothing better to do with their time than to blogstalk and post the equivalent of their IQ in perverse, filthy language? They also pulled the same stunt on another blog that belongs to someone who was in defense of me and my forum thread. I will treat childish actions with disdain and pray that this person finds peace for their inner turmoils.
New Jersey
So we lost about $200 in Atlantic City. *sigh*Didn't make it to NYC because my girlfriend is siiiiiicker than a dawg... but we are staying at a friend's house for a few days and the family dog loves us.
I'm getting out of town for a few days
OMGI need a vacation, but this will be the closest I will have for a few months. We are going to Atlantic City for a few days, then to NYC...I'll have my laptop with me, so I will try to post from the road again.
