Meowycakes Clothing Co. =^,,^=
30 October 2007
Adopt a cat Okay, there is my PSA for today. I thought about the 4 kittens (Panko Foochie, MiniMe, Sashimi & Clown Car) that got scooped up last week by Animal Control, from my back patio area, and wondered about their fate. They were Slinky Baby's 3rd litter and had just turned about 3 months old. Sneaky and wiggly - I'm hoping they all found their way to good homes. It was awful to see them in those cages yowling and crying, but I couldn't do or say anything or else I'd get busted.

Slinky Baby herself has avoided capture yet again. Amazing.

*sigh*

On to knitting and other assorted goodies...

I received my 'Weenie!

The Knittyboards had a holiday Secret Pal/RAK for Halloween this month, and I decided to have in on this one. I received a most excellent, very orange-y "pumpkin" themed gift parcel
from harajukuboo (LOL too funny!)

'Weenie SP giftage!

Angel inspecting product integrity

There were yummy snacks - orange fruity bits and a fruit-rollup type thingy which I promptly ate as soon as the bag was opened LOL - totally bizarre gummy candy in the shape of body parts (which my husband ganked for his desk), lots of bat & pumpkin-shaped confetti which drove Angel nuts, stickers, marshmallow Peeps in the shape of CATS!!!, some cool pumpkin-theme tea towels and coasters that were fairly shimmery (swoon), a very cool votive holder that says "beware" with scented tealights, and my two favorite items:

a ball of super-squishy Debbie Bliss Alpaca Silk in (love it) black

and a beautiful orange DREAM SWATCH!!!!

I put it on as soon as I got the tissue paper off. OMG it's so lovely and - totally spooky that I just started knitting one last week for myself

Dream Swatch

hahahahaha - I wore it all day and fell asleep with it. I'm so lucky my SP knows me so well :)

Thank you harajukuboo - I still don't know who you are, but I have my suspicions ... will confirm later this week *giggle*

I sent my downstream SP her giftage in two parts - the first via a Canadian company which apparently she has already received (yay), and the second which was mailed out last week and I hope she receives it soon...

More news.

I gave my notice. As of Nov. 20th I am going back to optics and continuing my quest for Dr. Roxy status.
Scary scary scary, since I have accepted the fate of a massive pay cut in a most difficult time for us financially, but there were extenuating factors that went beyond my desire to put up with any more bs. Like my health and sanity and the rapid loss of both. Plus, I didn't feel like being anyone's whipping post anymore.
Thank you to all my friends and family who have been and continue to be supportive, encouraging me to feel the fear and do it anyways - will keep you posted on the progress. If all goes well I will start my classes in January and in the meantime, work my @$$ off to bank as much cash & OT as possible. The bad news - half my hourly rate, the good news - at least I will get paid for every minute I work now. I just hope John's promotion will sort itself out soon, because that will ease the stress greatly.

I'm still sorting/assembling stuff for the Etsy shop so it will be little while before I post merchandise but I feel better that I'm getting the chance to even do so. I think about how much I love to craft and it gives me a sense of calm, and sad that I have neglected that part of my life for so long.

I've found my new yarn obsessions:

Habu textiles & yarn
Vesper sock yarn in Neapolitan
Cherry Tree Hill in Cherry Blossom
Zonda's JaneZ needle cases
Self-striping watermelon sockysock yarn
Annie Modesitt's Red Carpet Convertible pattern - for a good cause

(hee - I just realized that 2 of the above links are things I originally found through Zonda's page a few months ago LOL)

Oy. I need to go to bed. Will be back later.

Wigglysnacks:
*hugz* I'm glad you stood up and did what you needed to, I knew you would. You can totally make things work, it'll be hard, but it'll be worth it.

And btw that watermelon sock yarn is AWESOME.

You'll still be vacuuming up bats and pumpkins at Christmas. I'm glad you liked everything.
Happy Halloween :-)
